Paddle boarding
Morning all,
Thought I would just update you on what me and Abi have been up to in the last week!
We were lucky enough to go Paddle boarding with Christina from Portishead SUP Co, she is a fantastic instructor, and we were able to paddleboard around the marina in Portishead.
At Passion For Wellness our 9 for Mind programme is made up of our 9 Core Values and one of them is Keep Learning. So when Abigail called me to tell me that she had booked me on a paddleboard lesson I couldn’t refuse!
We were so lucky the weather was absolutely gorgeous, Portishead Marina looked like Majorca and Christina did say we would probably be too hot in a wetsuit, we were keen to wear them in case we fell off, Christina was right, we were boiling.
Christina was amazing she ran through all the instructions on land, and we had a bit of a practice on the grass, and it seemed soo easy! When we came to the water, I was feeling quite nervous, there were a lot of people out walking and we were suddenly very obvious, 3 paddleboarders.
We both managed to do it, getting up from a kneeling point felt a bit tricky but we did it, and it felt amazing to be doing something new, learning a new activity. I completely forgot all about lockdown and covid I was completely focused, and I was loving it.
We were seeing the marina from a completely different perspective. I have walked around the Marina so many times during lockdown, I felt like I knew every paving stone, but this was amazing viewing it all from the water.
We chatted and laughed as we wobbled and then righted ourselves, I realised that not only were we learning something new, but we were also incorporating so many of our other company core values.
We were connecting with nature and each other, in a way that we hadn’t been able to do during lockdown, we were being active, releasing all of those great endorphins, paddling through the water was quite strenuous.
I also felt really present not thinking about anything else: what we were having for tea, what work I needed to finish but really hearing the water lapping against the board, seeing the bright colours on the boats, and noticing the fisherman’s lines in the water.
The time passed really quickly, and we both only got our feet wet, and I felt a real sense of achievement!
This is a great activity that we can’t wait to do with our clients!
